Starting out in business, whatever your business is, will cost money there is no way around that. Insurance, equipment, training etc but creating eye-catching and exciting posts for your Instagram account doesn’t have to be one of them. There are plenty of free websites and apps out there that will help get you started.
Below is a breakdown of my top 5 and what you can do with each one to help you get started with a scroll stopping Instagram account.
For Designing – Canva
If you have yet to discover Canva I am about to blow your mind.
Canva is an online design and publishing tool with a mission to empower everyone in the world, to design anything and publish anywhere.
Taken directly from the Canva website
With 1000s of templates that are fully customisable even the most artistically challenged will be able to produce a great-looking post. Canva also includes a library of stock images, fonts, illustrations and animated elements which even on the free version have a good collection to choose from. There is a pro version which does cost money and I will cover more on that another time but when just starting out the free version will definitely get you going.
For Colour – Design seeds
If you are looking for brand colours design seeds has 100s of Colour palettes to search through all inspired by Nature. You can search by colour, season or collection and for each image, you are given the HEX colour codes which you can then use across your social media accounts, website etc
For Fonts – Google fonts
Another one for your branding Google fonts has over 1000 font choices and also gives you suggested font pairings which is great when you are starting out or rebranding your business. Once you have chosen most of the google fonts are standard across social media and already on websites like canva but there is also the option to download them should you need them.
For Video – InShot
For that all-important and popular video content, In Shot is a free app where you can edit your videos, mix video and still photos together, and then add text, music and illustrated elements to your videos. It’s also great for making reels if you don’t currently have all the features on your Instagram account. The free version does still have the watermark though so if you want to get rid of this you will need to pay for the full version. It is a one-off payment so is definitely worth the investment once you’ve made your first few videos.
For Scheduling – Facebook Creator Studio and Facebook Business suite
With some of these websites and apps there are paid versions which then release even more features. Once you have had a play around I would definitely recommend going pro with Canva and InShot but as with any new piece of technology test it out first, use any free trials you can to really make sure it’s right for you and then invest in your business.
I hope you find these websites and apps helpful to get you starting with Instagram, or maybe you already have an account but want to do more with your posts. Let me know how you get on and if you have any questions on the above or want to know more please contact me or why not book a free discovery call to find out more about how I can help you and your business.
