Running a business while juggling family life can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to managing all the tech tools needed to keep everything on track. As a busy mum myself, I understand these challenges firsthand. That’s why I love Google Workspace – its collection of apps is an essential part of my daily routine for both my business and personal life, helping me to keep everything running smoothly and efficiently.

Join the upcoming free live masterclass as part of the This Mum Loves Tech Community to dive deeper into how Google Workspace can transform your business.

What is Google Workspace?

Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite) is a collection of cloud-based tools developed by Google. It includes familiar apps like Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Calendar and more, all designed to help you streamline your work, collaborate with others, and stay organised.

The best part about using Google Workspace is that you can access your files from anywhere – whether you’re on a computer at home, a laptop at a coffee shop, or on your mobile phone waiting to pick up the kids. Everything autosaves, so you can seamlessly carry on from wherever you left off, no matter which device you use next.

Ensure your data is kept safe by making sure two-factor authentication is turned on your Google Workspace account.

Free vs. Paid Google Workspace

Before diving into the specifics of each app, it’s important to understand the difference between a free Google Workspace account and the paid version and which is the best choice for your business.

Free Google Workspace Account

With a free Google Workspace account, you get access to many of Google’s powerful tools, but your email address will end with @gmail.com. This is great for personal use, but as a business owner, it looks more professional to have an email address that uses your business name. A professional email address using your domain name is also essential if you want to use an email marketing platform such as Mailerlite.

Paid Google Workspace Account

The paid version of Google Workspace starts at just £6 per month. This allows you to create a Gmail inbox with a custom domain email address (e.g., yourname@yourbusiness.com). This not only looks more professional but also gives you access to the rest of the Google Workspace apps through the same business email, enabling you to keep all your business documents and communications in one place under a single business account.

If you’re considering upgrading to a paid Google Workspace account, I have an affiliate link that offers a special discount. You can purchase Google Workspace for only £5 per month for the first year through this link. Additionally, each person will need a unique discount code to apply this offer. Please email info@nwdesignanddigital.co.uk to receive your personal Google Workspace discount code.
